Brighton Excelsior Cycling Club

The 2018 Time Trial prizes have been updated to give more people a chance of winning something in recognition of their efforts. The widest spread of prizes is available on our evening 10 Series. We have introduced prizes for Road Bikes, Most Improved Rider and Best Novice.

The full range of prizes and awards presented for the Open Events on 14th and 15th July 2018 will be wider than shown in the table below and will be finalised closer to the time but the Club Time Trial Champion will be the rider of the fastest time for our Open 25.

Rules

Road Bike

You must inform the official when you enter in the Road Bike category. To be eligible, your bicycle must have:

  • Drop handlebars
  • No aero bars
  • No disc wheels, tri-spoke or quad-spoke wheels

Disc brakes are allowed. There is no further restriction on wheels although the official's decision on the night will be final.

This prize is for people without time trial bikes and will only be awarded to a rider who rides exclusively on a road bike on BECC events this season.

Most Improved

The most improved award goes to the rider with the biggest percentage improvement from their first 10-Mile of the season.

The only events that qualify are the BECC evening 10 series of 2018 and the BECC Open 10 on 14th July 2018.

The rider's first 10-Miler doesn't have to be the first of the season but a minimum of five times must be recorded.

This prize is intended to reward somebody who has shown significant progression early in their time trialling journey, not somebody who punctured, crashed, had a mechanical, took a wrong turn or quite simply took it easy on their first ride. Genuine contenders who suffer corroborated misfortune on their first 10-Miler can start again on their second. Experienced time triallers who enter under false pretences won't win.

Novice

This prize is awarded for the fastest BECC rider who rides their first 25-Miler at the BECC open on 15th July.
